What’s New on the 2019 GMC Terrain?
The 2019 GMC Terrain comes in four separate trim levels: SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali. The base SL provides heated mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Apple CarPlay, *Bluetooth®, a privacy glass, Android Auto, OnStar emergency communications, 110-volt power outlets, a height-adjustable front seat, automatic headlights, an auxiliary audio jack, and more. The SLE gains a compact spare tire and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Packages such as the Driver Convenience package and the Driver Alert I package can be equipped to the SLE trim. These packages add extra USB ports, an 8-inch touchscreen, cross-traffic alert, an SD card reader, rear parking sensors, a navigation system, and more.
The SLT trim comes with the Driver Alert I package as well as a Driver Alert II package. These packages get you several safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning. You also gain the Infotainment II package that offers navigation and a seven-speaker Bose stereo system. Drivers who choose the top trim, the Denali, will receive LED headlights, 19-inch wheels, and a Comfort package. The Comfort package provides ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a wireless phone charging pad.
History of the GMC Terrain
The Terrain is a relative newcomer to the SUV segment as it made its debut in 2010. The Terrain was launched in tandem with its “sister” vehicle the Chevrolet Equinox. GMC, however, ensured that the Terrain would separate itself from its sister by drastically altering the Terrain’s looks and upscaling its interior. Initial reaction to the launch of the Terrain was positive as GMC loyalists had long desired a more compact SUV offering from the automaker.
GMC was among the first to include a touchscreen audio system as standard equipment on a vehicle with the 2012 Terrain. 2013 marked the availability of the Terrain Denali further differentiating the brand from its GM sibling.
